Independent Air Quality Testing Experts
We can help by advising the most appropriate method of Indoor Air Quality testing and inspections. Coupled with our ventilation hygiene risk assessments, we can offer a complete package to help you meet your legal requirements.
We recommend having an IAQ inspection at least twice per year (ideally once in the summer and once in the winter). This can help ensure that the air quality within the workplace is safe throughout the year and throughout the changing weather.

What our indoor air quality testing includes:
Our inspections are undertaken by one of our expert consultants who will complete a number of tasks including:
- Taking air quality readings
- Reviewing airflow, humidity, dust and particulates
- Reviewing chemical compounds
- Selecting appropriate locations to test the air quality
- Prepare a report with the findings from the assessment

What is IAQ?
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a term which refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants.
IAQ testing provides a measurement of the many variables that can affect the air quality within a building. Through this testing we are able to produce a report which outlines the key areas of improvement as well as consult on the best course of action in resolving the issues.
What causes poor indoor air quality?
Indoor Air Quality can be affected by a number of factors such as:
- Indoor pollutants caused by poorly ventilated spaces which build up over time
- Gases including carbon monoxide and radon caused by appliances and equipment which burn fossil fuel
- Many cleaning products can contain volatile organic compounds which are released into the air
- Mould and mildew in damp or humid indoor areas which can lead to respiratory issues
- Any mass or energy stressor that can induce adverse health conditions
According to the World Health Organization, people are spending a considerable amount of time indoors, either at work or at home. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) plays a significant role in their general health, which is especially true for children, elderly and other vulnerable groups of people. Another more obvious factor that can cause poor indoor air quality is smoking indoors, while not many workplaces allow this, it can lead to respiratory or other health problems.
Why test indoor air quality?
According to the Health and Safety at Work Act, it is the duty of all employers to provide a safe and healthy work environment. This means ensuring that the air quality within the workplace is of an acceptable level as some air pollutants may be subject to workplace exposure limits according to the COSHH regulations.
What are the impacts of poor indoor air quality?
Poor indoor air quality can have a negative impact on a person’s health ranging from and respiratory issues, and in some cases where there is prolonged exposure to some indoor pollutant it can lead to more serious illnesses including respiratory diseased and increasing the risk of cancer.
In workplaces we find the most common impact to be fatigue and headaches, poor sleep quality and decreased productivity.
What are the benefits of improving air quality
Improving air quality has many benefits both on individuals’ health and the environment, such as:
- Better respiratory health
- Reduced allergies
- Improved productivity and concentration
- Better sleep quality
- Healthier employees
- Lower air pollution levels

Elevate Indoor Environmental Quality with Expert Assessments
Here at IAQ Services we also offer in-depth Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) assessments. Our IEQ assessments prioritise the health, comfort, and well-being of staff and other occupants of the building.
Grounded on the principles of the BS 40102 regulations, we ensure that your indoor environments meet the highest quality standards. Contact our team today on 0330 133 1252 or email us on info@iaqservices.co.uk.
What is IEQ?
IEQ stands for Indoor Environmental Quality and is far more comprehensive than IAQ, encompassing a wide variety of factors that affect the overall quality of indoor spaces. IEQ takes into account aspects such as air quality, temperature, humidity, lighting, acoustics, and ergonomics. Take these factors into account when designing indoor areas can help improve the well-being and productivity of the occupants.
Benefits of improving IEQ
Health & Well-Being
Poor indoor air quality can have a negative effect on things such as allergies and other health problems which could lead to respiratory issues. Our IEQ assessments can help identify issues with air quality and reduce the risk of potential health issues.
Productivity
Employees who are more comfortable are more productive. With IEQ our experts can identify comfort issues such as temperature, humidity, acoustics, and more to provide recommendations that can be made to improve occupant comfort and productivity.
Energy Efficiency
Indoor environments can also be optimised for energy efficiency. This is done through the optimisation of HVAC systems, lighting, and more to improve efficiency and ultimately reduce energy consumption and costs.
Why choose us for IEQ Assessments?
With extensive experience in the industry, we are experts in IAQ and IEQ. While we don’t design indoor spaces, we ensure that existing environments are optimised and meet the highest standards of health and comfort inline with all relevant laws and regulations.
Here at IAQ Services, we can offer a variety of services to help improve your indoor environments, including:
- Indoor Air Quality Assessments
- Lighting Evaluations
- Acoustic Analysis
